FBOs & aviation businesses
Start with the providers’ published locations and the airport’s business directory. Compare written proposals for the exact aircraft and services you need.
Concord Jet Center
500 Sally Ride Drive, Suite 530, Concord, CA
925-825-2980County directory lists fueling, storage and aircraft services.
Pacific States Aviation
51 John Glenn Drive, Concord, CA
925-685-4400County directory distinguishes the FBO location at 51 John Glenn Drive from flight training at 101 John Glenn Drive.
The directory is informational. Categories describe published services; no ranking, service guarantee, FAA certificate determination or endorsement is implied. Ask each provider about current capability, availability and contract terms.
Evaluate Buchanan Field Airport as a home base or recurring destination for the actual aircraft, passengers and schedule.
Focus on the inland East Bay trip
Contra Costa County identifies Buchanan Field as CCR and publishes airport information through its airports department. For an owner whose recurring trips begin or end around Concord and inland Contra Costa County, compare the complete itinerary with Oakland or Hayward. The best coastal Bay Area gateway is not necessarily the most useful base for this particular ground market.
Use current operational materials
The county's page provides airport-data links and tower information. Tower service hours, airport use requirements and provider service hours are distinct facts and should not be collapsed into a single claimed curfew. Have the operator verify the current chart supplement, notices and applicable local rules for the exact aircraft and intended mission. Avoid providing aircraft-performance approval through an ownership article.
Obtain a usable storage offer
Ask for available space and actual clearances for the proposed jet, along with towing, shared-aircraft arrangements, access and insurance requirements. Confirm who controls the space and whether the term can be assigned if the aircraft is sold or replaced. Include outside maintenance access and any need to reposition for a qualified service provider.
Compare like-for-like cash flows
Use the same aircraft, annual utilization, financing terms and reserve assumptions for CCR and its alternatives. Change only the base-specific fees, storage, transfers and positioning so the comparison is meaningful. Discuss actual aircraft location and use with Contra Costa County or the owner's tax adviser; county basing and California acquisition-tax analysis remain distinct workstreams.
Build a base-comparison worksheet
Prepare CCR, OAK and HWD columns for the actual Concord and inland Contra Costa destinations, passenger entrance, aircraft-specific storage, local charges and positioning. Add an explicit outside-maintenance row and ask who authorizes contractor access. Record the professional's current operating review separately from county-published tower information so a service-hour fact is not converted into an invented curfew. Compare the same aircraft and annual activity across all columns. If a North Bay destination is material, evaluate APC only after the actual ground itinerary and aircraft requirements are understood.
Confirm the local reporting and contract roles
Direct airport-administration questions to Contra Costa County's airports team and assessment questions to the appropriate assessor staff or adviser. Their shared county affiliation does not make a storage offer a tax determination. Ask which records establish the aircraft's actual pattern if it divides time among CCR, an Alameda County field and an out-of-state base. Preserve legal owner, serial numbers and location evidence consistently rather than rely on a city or county label in a brochure.
Compare your basing alternatives
Use this worksheet to request like-for-like evidence for the actual aircraft and recurring trips. Blank or unconfirmed items remain decisions to investigate, not implied airport capabilities.
| Decision variable | CCR evidence | Alternative evidence | Owner priority / unresolved question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actual passenger ground itinerary | Obtain current route estimate | Use the same dates and destinations | No fixed transfer-time promise |
| Storage rights and availability | Signed offer, conditional offer or inquiry | Record the same evidence category | Do not price unavailable space as confirmed |
| Airport and provider charges | Request itemized current proposal | Match aircraft and annual activity | Identify excluded or unquoted items |
| Operating and noise review | Current source and qualified operator review | Use each airport's own rules | Distinguish mandatory and voluntary only when verified |
| Assessment and records | Ask the appropriate assessor or adviser | Document actual changed basing facts | No automatic situs or exemption conclusion |
Your next-step checklist
- Does this base serve our actual inland East Bay destinations?
- Which hours describe tower service rather than an airport restriction?
- What maintenance positioning is required?
