Prepare program evidence before marketing claims become closing assumptions. Enrollment, coverage, payments, transfer eligibility and fees need documented confirmation for the actual engines and agreements.
Inventory the programs precisely
List providers, plans, contracts, covered serials and current status. Distinguish engine, airframe, component, avionics and warranty arrangements. Identify whether the seller's payments and usage reporting are current. A short phrase such as full programs can obscure different coverage and transfer rights, so support the listing with accurate descriptions and underlying agreements.
Obtain the provider’s transfer process
Request required approvals, forms, timing, buyer enrollment, fees and any catch-up amount. Have the technical and legal advisers review exclusions and conditions. Do not assume transfer is automatic merely because the aircraft remains under the same program name or that a seller's benefits are identical to those a new owner will receive.
Align with buyer financing
The lender may need program or condition evidence for the proposed aircraft. Ask the buyer's transaction team what is outstanding without seeking unrelated private financial information. If a provider confirms a material transfer expense, establish who pays and update the cash-to-close and seller proceeds. Avoid leaving an unresolved item behind a general statement that coverage is included.
Confirm the changeover and records
Agree the effective transfer date, allocation of use before closing and treatment of any claim or work in progress. Supply final reporting and retain relevant confirmations. Keep ongoing subscriptions separate where they have different transfer rules. The transaction should make clear which benefits the buyer actually acquires and which seller obligations end or remain.
Illustrative seller scenario
Illustrative only: the buyer's lender wants confirmation of engine coverage, but a provider requires final utilization reporting before transfer. The seller can prepare reporting and obtain the process early. Calling the program transferable without identifying the open step may create unnecessary closing pressure even if the ultimate transfer is possible.
