The decision in focus

Compare county-operated Palomar and city-operated Montgomery-Gibbs for the actual passenger and operating mission.

Start with the destination pattern

Map a representative month of trips to Carlsbad and other North County locations separately from trips into the city. Compare CRQ and MYF using the actual passenger origin, destination and timing. Include the crew's commute and maintenance arrangements. An airport name that sounds executive or regional does not establish that it is the correct base for a particular jet or business.

Keep identities and rules clear

Palomar uses CRQ/KCRQ in general-aviation contexts and CLD in airline material. It is not Sacramento McClellan, MCC. Montgomery-Gibbs is a City of San Diego airport and publishes separate policy resources. Staff-office hours, provider service hours, tower hours and flight restrictions are different facts. Ask the operating team to identify the current applicable requirements rather than combining them into a misleading availability claim.

Price service and access together

Request current landing-fee treatment, storage, handling, towing, insurance, access credentials and after-hours arrangements for the same aircraft. Determine which maintenance can occur locally and which requires positioning. Use those documented costs alongside financing and reserves. Keep actual aircraft-location records for the San Diego County assessment discussion, and address delivery and California acquisition-tax planning separately.

Your next-step checklist

  • Use correct CRQ/CLD identifiers.
  • Compare North County and city ground itineraries.
  • Obtain current rules from the appropriate operator.
  • Budget maintenance positioning explicitly.
