FBOs & aviation businesses
Start with the providers’ published locations and the airport’s business directory. Compare written proposals for the exact aircraft and services you need.

Carlsbad Jet Center

The directory is informational. Categories describe published services; no ranking, service guarantee, FAA certificate determination or endorsement is implied. Ask each provider about current capability, availability and contract terms.
Evaluate McClellan-Palomar Airport as a home base or recurring destination for the actual aircraft, passengers and schedule.
Use the correct airport identity
The County of San Diego identifies McClellan-Palomar in Carlsbad and publishes resources for airline and private-aircraft users. General-aviation discussions commonly use CRQ/KCRQ, while airline-facing material uses CLD. Include both when coordinating a purchase, service quote or ground transfer so that everyone is referring to the same field. Do not confuse it with Sacramento McClellan Airport, MCC.
Compare North County with central San Diego
For repeated destinations in Carlsbad and neighboring North County communities, compare Palomar with Montgomery-Gibbs using the real passenger itinerary. An owner whose meetings are mainly central or southern San Diego may reach a different conclusion. Include aircraft positioning and crew access, and use current transport estimates rather than an unsupported blanket claim that one base is always faster.
Recheck fees and local programs
The county airport page links a landing-fee collection change effective December 2025. That makes current billing arrangements a specific acquisition question, not a reason to copy an old fee schedule. Obtain the airport's current noise, operating and access materials and have the operator separate mandatory requirements from voluntary practices before finalizing the intended schedule.
Obtain a complete aircraft-specific proposal
Ask for storage, handling, fuel, towing, insurance and after-hours terms for the proposed jet. Determine whether a quoted service is available for a based aircraft or only a transient visit. Show those expenses separately from financing. Maintain actual basing and use information for the San Diego County assessment discussion and seek aviation tax advice before structuring California delivery.
Build a base-comparison worksheet
Create a CRQ-versus-MYF comparison with actual Carlsbad, North County and central San Diego destinations, the private-aircraft entrance, storage offer, local fees and maintenance positioning. Use CRQ/KCRQ consistently, noting CLD only where the airline-facing identifier matters. Ask providers to explain current landing-fee collection and any separate airport invoices without assuming a historical charge remains applicable. Include a row for current aircraft-specific local-rule review. A convenient North County transfer should be weighed against documented storage and support, not against an assumed generic San Diego airport package.
Confirm the local reporting and contract roles
Keep County of San Diego airport administration distinct from City of Carlsbad land-use or community information. Ask the county assessor or the owner's adviser what actual basing and ownership evidence is required for this aircraft. Use the legal aircraft owner and correct airport identity on service proposals and correspondence. A county airport's location within a city does not make city webpages the final authority on every aircraft contract, operating rule or assessment question.
Compare your basing alternatives
Use this worksheet to request like-for-like evidence for the actual aircraft and recurring trips. Blank or unconfirmed items remain decisions to investigate, not implied airport capabilities.
| Decision variable | CRQ evidence | Alternative evidence | Owner priority / unresolved question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actual passenger ground itinerary | Obtain current route estimate | Use the same dates and destinations | No fixed transfer-time promise |
| Storage rights and availability | Signed offer, conditional offer or inquiry | Record the same evidence category | Do not price unavailable space as confirmed |
| Airport and provider charges | Request itemized current proposal | Match aircraft and annual activity | Identify excluded or unquoted items |
| Operating and noise review | Current source and qualified operator review | Use each airport's own rules | Distinguish mandatory and voluntary only when verified |
| Assessment and records | Ask the appropriate assessor or adviser | Document actual changed basing facts | No automatic situs or exemption conclusion |
Your next-step checklist
- Are all parties using CRQ/KCRQ rather than MCC?
- What current landing-fee billing and exclusions apply?
- How does the actual North County ground itinerary compare with MYF?
