FBOs & aviation businesses
Start with the providers’ published locations and the airport’s business directory. Compare written proposals for the exact aircraft and services you need.
Atlantic Aviation San Jose
Verified company SJC location; obtain date-specific service terms directly.
Signature Aviation San Jose
323 Martin Avenue, San Jose, CA 95050
669-800-1992Verified current company SJC/KSJC location. Address is reproduced as published, not treated as an assessment-jurisdiction determination.
The directory is informational. Categories describe published services; no ranking, service guarantee, FAA certificate determination or endorsement is implied. Ask each provider about current capability, availability and contract terms.
Evaluate San José Mineta International Airport as a home base or recurring destination for the actual aircraft, passengers and schedule.
Check the actual storage pathway
The airport's hangar page provides application, license-agreement, dimensions and waiting-list links. A place on a list is not a guaranteed delivery date for storage. Ask which category fits the proposed aircraft, what application or administrative conditions apply, and whether an alternative provider proposal is separate from airport-operated storage. Confirm current charges instead of preserving a dated application fee in the ownership model.
Evaluate noise requirements precisely
SJC publishes curfew information and general-aviation rules. Have the flight department determine how the current rules apply to the exact aircraft and proposed operation. Do not reduce a noise-based access regime to a claim that every aircraft faces the same blanket rule, or assume another Bay Area airport uses the same restrictions.
Compare the real Silicon Valley trip
Map passenger origins and recurring destinations across San José and the Peninsula, then compare SJC with relevant East Bay alternatives. Include peak-period ground travel, crew reporting and maintenance positioning through current estimates. The shortest map distance does not settle the annual ownership choice, particularly if an otherwise suitable airport has no contracted space for the selected aircraft.
Make assumptions traceable
Retain the storage proposal, wait-list status, service quotation and operator review with the financing budget. Show the consequences of temporary off-site storage or repositioning as a separate scenario. Discuss actual basing and assessment facts with Santa Clara County or the buyer's adviser; a pending hangar application does not determine the aircraft's tax situs.
Build a base-comparison worksheet
Create SJC, OAK and HWD columns with contracted space, wait-list status, exact aircraft category, current local-rule review, ground destinations and maintenance support. Where SJC storage is pending, include a separate temporary-base scenario with transport and positioning rather than assign the preferred rent from day one. Ask the airport business office which application category and dimensions apply, and ask the operator which noise restrictions govern the aircraft. Keep application status, operational eligibility and commercial service availability separate; a favorable answer in one column does not clear the other two.
Confirm the local reporting and contract roles
Separate the city airport's storage license and FBO terms from Santa Clara County aircraft assessment questions. Ask what happens to the storage agreement if the owner changes aircraft or legal entity and obtain adviser guidance on records if the actual base changes while an application remains pending. A mailing address in Silicon Valley and a place on SJC's waiting list are not evidence that the aircraft is already habitually based in the offered category.
Compare your basing alternatives
Use this worksheet to request like-for-like evidence for the actual aircraft and recurring trips. Blank or unconfirmed items remain decisions to investigate, not implied airport capabilities.
| Decision variable | SJC evidence | Alternative evidence | Owner priority / unresolved question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actual passenger ground itinerary | Obtain current route estimate | Use the same dates and destinations | No fixed transfer-time promise |
| Storage rights and availability | Signed offer, conditional offer or inquiry | Record the same evidence category | Do not price unavailable space as confirmed |
| Airport and provider charges | Request itemized current proposal | Match aircraft and annual activity | Identify excluded or unquoted items |
| Operating and noise review | Current source and qualified operator review | Use each airport's own rules | Distinguish mandatory and voluntary only when verified |
| Assessment and records | Ask the appropriate assessor or adviser | Document actual changed basing facts | No automatic situs or exemption conclusion |
Your next-step checklist
- Is there contracted space or only a waiting-list position?
- Which noise/access rules apply to this aircraft?
- What does temporary off-site basing add to cost?
