The people behind the base

FBOs & aviation businesses

Start with the providers’ published locations and the airport’s business directory. Compare written proposals for the exact aircraft and services you need.

FBO / ground services

Archer FBO / Jet Center Los Angeles

12101 S. Crenshaw Boulevard, Hawthorne, CA 90250

310-676-4673

City identifies Archer as current FBO provider after the November 2025 master ground-lease change and refers service inquiries to Jet Center Los Angeles. Confirm the current contracting entity directly.

Aircraft maintenance and parts

Security Aviation

3810 West 120th Street, Hawthorne, CA 90250

310-978-1095

Company says its current focus is maintenance and parts, not full-service FBO operations. No certification status is independently asserted.

The directory is informational. Categories describe published services; no ranking, service guarantee, FAA certificate determination or endorsement is implied. Ask each provider about current capability, availability and contract terms.

The decision in focus

Evaluate Hawthorne Municipal Airport / Jack Northrop Field as a home base or recurring destination for the actual aircraft, passengers and schedule.

Start with the city-owned airport

The City of Hawthorne identifies the airport as Jack Northrop Field and describes it as a general-aviation reliever. The city's airport information reports a November 2025 change in the master ground-lease arrangement for non-airfield portions. That is a practical reason to confirm the counterparty to any storage or service agreement and to avoid treating an older FBO directory as current evidence.

Evaluate South Bay access using the right entrance

Compare the private-aviation transfer to the buyer's South Bay locations with transfers from Long Beach, Van Nuys and other relevant airports. The distance to LAX is not the same as a documented private-aircraft-to-airline connection time. Obtain current transport arrangements, access instructions and realistic scheduling allowances directly; do not assume a shuttle or other amenity remains available merely because it appeared in historical material.

Confirm aircraft-specific operating acceptance

Ask the flight department to review current airfield information, local noise materials and the exact aircraft's requirements. A photograph of a large jet at the airport is not evidence that every aircraft can use the field for the buyer's intended mission. Separate operational acceptance from the commercial decision about which space and service package to contract.

Investigate agreement continuity

For a long-term ownership budget, request the storage term, renewal rights, escalation formula, termination conditions and responsibilities if the service provider changes. Confirm whether handling or fuel commitments accompany rent. Retain these agreements alongside financing assumptions and Los Angeles County assessment correspondence, with aviation counsel or a tax adviser addressing transaction-specific legal or tax implications.

Build a base-comparison worksheet

Compare HHR with LGB and VNY using the real South Bay or Westside destination, current passenger entrance, service counterparty, available storage and cost of trips to the owner's other frequent locations. Include a contract-continuity row reflecting the need to confirm today's ground-lease and provider arrangements directly with the city and provider. Ask for written confirmation of any advertised transfer amenity before including it as an ownership benefit. Distinguish the provider's staffing or service hours from airfield operating requirements, which the flight department must independently verify.

Confirm the local reporting and contract roles

Confirm who controls each part of the proposed agreement: city airport administration, a ground lessee or the FBO. Ask Los Angeles County assessment staff how the actual aircraft base and ownership should be documented, separately from the identity of the airport operator. A change in the ground-service business does not itself determine aircraft tax treatment. Retain a dated city confirmation of today's operator and master-lease arrangements before relying on the proposal.

Compare your basing alternatives

Use this worksheet to request like-for-like evidence for the actual aircraft and recurring trips. Blank or unconfirmed items remain decisions to investigate, not implied airport capabilities.

Your next-step checklist

  • Who is the current counterparty for the proposed space and services?
  • What happens to the agreement after a provider change?
  • Has the flight department validated the specific aircraft and mission?
