The decision in focus

A seller needs credible transaction status and next steps, not unrestricted access to a buyer’s personal financial records. Ask the right process questions and respect the limits of preliminary indications.

Clarify the financing stage

Ask whether the buyer has selected a lender or intermediary, supplied the requested documents and received an indication subject to conditions. Identify what remains specifically related to the aircraft or closing. Do not assume every use of pre-approved means the same thing, and avoid stripping qualifications from a status statement when discussing the offer.

Use appropriate evidence channels

Have the buyer authorize any needed confirmation through the professionals handling the transaction. Sensitive tax returns, bank statements, identification and credit information should use the lender's secure channels rather than the seller's general inbox. The seller can ask for a realistic financing timetable and remaining conditions without becoming a second credit underwriter.

Compare offer certainty with terms

Price, deposit, contingencies, inspection access, closing timing and buyer readiness all affect an offer. A cash claim is not inherently verified, and a financed offer is not inherently weak. Use documented milestones and adviser-reviewed terms instead of treating a label as a substitute for evidence or demanding private information unrelated to the transaction.

Keep aircraft obligations visible

Even a well-prepared buyer may need valuation, inspection, insurance, entity and title work. The seller's records and cooperation can influence whether those tasks complete on time. Keep a conditions list with responsible parties and update it when aircraft, borrower structure or dates change. No seller-side checklist should be presented as lender approval.

Illustrative seller scenario

Illustrative only: one offer has a higher price but only an initial finance inquiry, while another has a lower price and documented borrower review subject to aircraft conditions. Compare deadlines, contingencies and remaining work with advisers. Neither label guarantees completion, but the evidence helps the seller understand timing and execution differences.

Your next-step checklist

  • Qualified status confirmation
  • Privacy-respecting channel
  • Offer-condition comparison
  • Aircraft-side checklist
