The decision in focus

Does the installed connectivity support the intended business use at an acceptable cost?

Identify the actual installation

Request equipment model, installed configuration, approval documentation and service status for the specific aircraft. Manufacturer releases can announce approval for particular models without proving that every example is equipped. A seller saying satellite internet or next-generation Wi-Fi is not enough. Have the avionics professional verify what is installed, what is serviceable and what would be required for the buyer's intended use.

Describe the passenger requirement

List practical needs such as email, calling, videoconferencing, simultaneous users and sensitive company work. Ask the provider how the proposed service addresses those needs, where limitations apply and which assumptions underpin any advertised speed. Do not convert a maximum capability figure into a guarantee on every route. Testing and current service terms are more useful than a generic claim that the cabin is an office in the sky.

Compare installed and recurring cash flows

Separate equipment, installation, engineering, subscription, data charges and expected downtime. Obtain the actual provider and installation quotes and identify fees required to transfer service. A low aircraft price with an anticipated connectivity upgrade may have a higher first-year cash need than a candidate with a suitable verified system. Avoid assuming an installation automatically increases resale value by its full cost.

Include security and support

Ask company IT and the service provider about device policy, account ownership, support, software updates and secure use. Keep passenger data and credentials out of public calculators. Document who manages the subscription after closing and what happens when the aircraft is sold. The owner should have a plan for work that cannot depend on uninterrupted connectivity, without treating financial estimates as a technical service guarantee.

Your next-step checklist

  • Verify installed hardware and approval.
  • Define actual user needs.
  • Price installation and subscriptions.
  • Assign IT and account ownership.
