Airport management & official information
Truckee Tahoe Airport District
10356 TRUCKEE AIRPORT RD, TRUCKEE, CA, 96161

Public-source directory checked 2026-10-28. Confirm current services, contacts and availability directly. An airport listing does not establish aircraft suitability or a relationship with Jaken Finance Group.
FBOs & aviation businesses
Start with the providers’ published locations and the airport’s business directory. Compare written proposals for the exact aircraft and services you need.
Mountain Lion Aviation
530-655-1100Airport district on-field directory identifies this operator; not represented as the airport FBO.
Sierra Aero
530-359-8751Airport district lists maintenance and avionics services. Confirm model-specific scope; no certification is independently verified by this directory.
North Tahoe Aviation
Airport district lists on-field scenic flights and instruction; distinct from jet ground handling.
The directory is informational. Categories describe published services; no ranking, service guarantee, FAA certificate determination or endorsement is implied. Ask each provider about current capability, availability and contract terms.
Evaluate Truckee Tahoe Airport as a home base or recurring destination for the actual aircraft, passengers and schedule.
Respect the published voluntary nighttime request
The airport asks pilots to observe its voluntary 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew and identifies the community as noise sensitive. Preserve the word voluntary when describing that request, and have the operator review all separate mandatory requirements. A financing article should not turn the program into an invented prohibition or imply that responsible nighttime planning is unnecessary.
Budget a mountain mission professionally
The operator highlights mountains, high density altitude, winter conditions and other local cautions. Aircraft suitability depends on the exact aircraft, loading, conditions and approved operating information. Have a qualified flight department evaluate the mission and alternatives; do not convert a published runway length or manufacturer range into a promise that a buyer can complete every intended trip.
Plan storage and disruption scenarios
Request winter and summer storage terms, snow-related service arrangements, towing, aircraft access and cancellation conditions. Ask how the provider communicates construction, snow-day changes and notices. Include an alternate airport and ground-transfer scenario in the ownership budget without prescribing a flight decision. Tahoe access can be a recurring destination need even when a lower-elevation airport is the permanent base.
Resolve assessment jurisdiction with evidence
The airport district and nearby county boundary make casual assumptions from a town name inappropriate. Confirm the relevant assessment jurisdiction and actual basing facts with the assessor or aviation tax adviser. Retain location and use records when the aircraft also visits Nevada or another base; crossing a state line does not itself establish an exemption or a proration percentage.
Build a base-comparison worksheet
Build TRK and TVL destination columns plus a professionally selected lower-elevation base scenario. Rows should include actual shore or resort destination, seasonal service, confirmed storage, winter support, passenger ground transfer, aircraft positioning and cancellation. Label the TRK nighttime request voluntary and record separate mandatory requirements only when verified. Ask the operator to screen each mission and alternative; do not infer suitability from the worksheet itself. Model a trip that uses the alternate as well as a normal direct visit, and show the associated cash without predicting how often conditions will require it.
Confirm the local reporting and contract roles
Ask the relevant county assessor and aviation tax adviser to confirm the aircraft's actual assessment jurisdiction; the airport district and Nevada/Placer boundary area make a town-name shortcut inappropriate. Keep district airport charges, provider invoices and assessment records separate. If the aircraft also uses Nevada, retain actual dates, location and use rather than calculate automatic interstate proration from a few trips. A district membership, residence or property address is not the aircraft's complete tax evidence.
Compare your basing alternatives
Use this worksheet to request like-for-like evidence for the actual aircraft and recurring trips. Blank or unconfirmed items remain decisions to investigate, not implied airport capabilities.
| Decision variable | TRK evidence | Alternative evidence | Owner priority / unresolved question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actual passenger ground itinerary | Obtain current route estimate | Use the same dates and destinations | No fixed transfer-time promise |
| Storage rights and availability | Signed offer, conditional offer or inquiry | Record the same evidence category | Do not price unavailable space as confirmed |
| Airport and provider charges | Request itemized current proposal | Match aircraft and annual activity | Identify excluded or unquoted items |
| Operating and noise review | Current source and qualified operator review | Use each airport's own rules | Distinguish mandatory and voluntary only when verified |
| Assessment and records | Ask the appropriate assessor or adviser | Document actual changed basing facts | No automatic situs or exemption conclusion |
Your next-step checklist
- How does the operator plan to observe the voluntary nighttime request?
- What alternate-base and winter cost scenario is budgeted?
- Which assessor has confirmed the actual aircraft's reporting facts?
